The City of Santa Cruz has a current vacancy for Supervising Plans Examiner. Diverse projects await your review in the beachside City of Santa Cruz!  We are receiving exciting new development projects every day. You would be involved in supervising the plan review and construction phases for many projects, such as muti-story residential and residential over commercial projects, some with sub-grade parking; a planned hotel and conference center; and a new arena for the Santa Cruz Warriors basketball team; as well as supervising the public counter function in the inspection services division. The Building Division is a passionate team within the Planning and Community Development Department that strives to help the City`s development projects and keep our community safe, one plan review at a time. If you have journey level experience as a plans examiner, we want you! Minimum qualifications are high school graduation or tested equivalent; two years of college in a building inspection/construction related field; and five years of experience as a journey level plans examiner, of which three should be equivalent to a Senior Plans Examiner; a valid driver`s license, and ICC licenses and certifications as listed. Possibility of incentive pay of up to 8% for additional approved professional certifications over required base certifications.
