Natividad is seeking a full-time, permanent Physical Therapist Assistant in the Acute Rehabilitation Department to perform direct patient care treatment plans through various physical therapy modalities and procedures as ordered by the patient's physician. Incumbents are responsible for clinical and non-clinical duties as developed and directed by the Physical Therapist.

Examples of Duties:

  • Administers a program of corrective action using a variety of physical therapy modalities, including ultrasound, hot pack, cold pack and electrical units
  • Performs hydrotherapy, dressing changes and wound care; applies orthotics, prosthetics, corsets, and elastic wraps
  • Communicates with hospital staff and patient families regarding patient status, problems or treatment; provides patient and family education
  • Conducts therapeutic exercises, including active/passive range of motion, developmental progression and/or group activities
  • Conducts functional activities, including rolling, scooting, sit to stand, mat mobility and wheelchair transfers
  • Documents patient information; assists with office clerical duties including scheduling, reports, statistics and satisfaction surveys; maintains treatment and storage areas

Minimum qualifications include possession of a valid Physical Therapist Assistant license issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California AND working knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, electromagnetism, kinesiology, massage, mechanics, thermodynamics, physiology and neuro-muscular functions and dysfunctions; proper use and care of orthopedic equipment and appliances; principles, techniques and modalities of physical therapy; and medical terminology appropriate to the practice of physical therapy.
