THE JOB: Under general supervision, perform duties involved in the analysis of digital media evidence by performing acquisitions and extractions in a forensically sound manner of digital evidence in the workplace and in the field; interpret the results of the findings; prepare the materials for presentation in criminal court; and appear in court as an expert witness. Incumbent should have some knowledge of all traditional forensic sciences, however the current position will specialize in Computer Forensics and Digital Media Analysis.

The current vacancy  is in the Computer Forensics and Digital Media Analysis unit of the District Attorney's Office. The successful candidate will, under supervision, conduct on-site evidence triage in the field. Work will include the processing and analysis of digital evidence, including the disassembly of computer hardware; forensic imaging of digital media; examining data related to criminal offences; recovery of data from cellular phones; preparing evidence and equipment for presentation in court; managing cloud-based platforms to access Body Worn Camera footage; consult on crime scene investigations and traditional forensic sciences. Criminalists working in this position will encounter data containing explicit sexual content and child pornography.
