The current vacancy is for Environmental Compliance Inspector in the Public Works Department. Under general supervision, the Environmental Compliance Inspector maintains environmental compliance oversight for designated sections of the wastewater and stormwater system; the storm drains, associated domestic trunklines and industrial discharges into the wastewater treatment facility and; performs technical tasks of modest to moderate complexity within the city to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local pretreatment standards and requirements; and performs investigations of discharges into the sewer systems, the city`s waterways and the nearshore. The minimum qualifications for this position are a valid California driver`s license and either a bachelor`s degree in environmental science or a related field, or two years of college coursework in a science or environmental program, along with one year of laboratory assistant experience or two years of wastewater-related experience. For the complete list of minimum qualifications and full job description, please refer to the City of Santa Cruz Jobs page linked below.
