Highly skilled Wharf Construction Workers sought to work on the longest wooden pier in the United States! Enjoy the beautiful scenery every day at our historic Santa Cruz Wharf that extends a half mile into the beautiful Monterey Bay. There are currently two vacancies for Wharf Construction Worker in the Parks and Recreation Department. Under supervision, the Wharf Construction Worker performs a wide variety of skilled and highly skilled construction and maintenance work on the Municipal Wharf and perform related work as required. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; four (4) years of journey-level experience in construction building trades such as electrical, plumbing and concrete finish work, with significant experience in carpentry and/or metal fabrication/welding; and a valid California Class C driver’s license. Certification as a scuba diver from National Association of Underwater Instructors (N.A.U.I.) or equivalent is required within the first six months of employment. Some positions may require possession of a Class A driver’s license at the end of 12 months of employment.
