Salud Para La Gente (SALUD) provides high quality, comprehensive and cost-effective full scope primary care services to underserved, low-income communities in the Monterey Bay area, including Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. SALUD began in Watsonville in 1978 as a storefront “free clinic,” and with a growing need for health services, in 1992 became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Director of Pediatrics and in close working relationship with the Clinic Manager, provides medical administration for a non-profit community health clinic and its staff and performs the duties and responsibilities of the Pediatrics Physician.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate individual who will work with the medical team to fulfill our mission to provide high quality, comprehensive and cost-effective healthcare responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.
Knowledge of: the principles, practices, and procedures used in pediatric medicine to detect, diagnose, and treat health problems; of medications and drugs; of care and control of chronic and communicable diseases, illness and handicapping conditions; of laboratory tests and their clinical significance; of the principles and practices of public health medicine laws and regulations; of the ethics of patient care; of referral systems and community resources.
Ability to: treat, counsel and educate clients who are primarily monolingual farm workers and their families; communicate effectively and respectfully with people from different racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and lifestyles, demonstrating a knowledge of and sensitivity to their needs; to maintain effective working relationships with agency staff, clients, other community agencies, the medical community, and the public; to promote a participatory work environment; to plan analytically for the present and future circumstances; to utilize a broad perspective in the development of the various components of the clinic; and to enhance the image of the agency in the community.
Valid California Physician’s license, DEA license and CPR certificate
Valid driver’s license
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics preferred
Willing to learn/improve Spanish speaking
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Practice
