Pacific Plug & Liner, a sister company to Smith Gardens, has an exciting opportunity for a Shipping and Logistics Coordinator to join our team at our Watsonville, CA Site.
Plug & Liner was founded in October 1999 and is located on the beautiful California Central Coast with a climate ideal for plant and flower production. We have approximately 290,000 sq. ft. dedicated to growing young plants. Pacific Plug & Liner features a state-of-the-art production facility, ensuring consistent and superior quality.
Direct and organize all moving, selecting, shipping and logistics activities at PP&L. Supervise and motivate staff, increasing performance, while promoting a positive leadership and mentoring environment. Work closely with Production, Growing and Shipping to ensure labor at peak is managed efficiency while maintaining continuous improvement. Coordinate all shipping and transportation to focus on profitability of PP&L.
DIRECT REPORTS: Moving, Selecting and Shipping supervisors.
Direct and coordinate all PPL order assembly and transportation logistics.
Participate and collaborate when required in PPL and SG labor activities for responsible areas
Develop, monitor, and maintain labor rates and standards for shipping and logistics department
Coordinate Freight rates for small package carriers (FX) and LTL carriers via monthly analysis of freight costs.
Participate when required in “2-weeks” walks with Head Grower to identify possible order fulfillment problems
Coordinate logistics efforts with New Product & Marketing Manager for trade shows including catalog shipping, advertising material, and many other unique business events, to attract future business
Monitor daily operations to take appropriate actions on areas relating to staffing, scheduling, and quality of products.
Promote and motivate Moving, Shipping and selecting teams to create and implement new processes to improve consistently crop accuracy and quality.
Monitor movement of crops in production processes including selecting, seeding, sticking, patching and trimming, in order to keep accurate product location.
Assist the Fulfillment and Logistics manager in all related tasks in the department, in particular during the absence of this manager.
Work closely with Sales and Customer Service team to route the best possible options for customer deliveries. Negotiating with vendors and suppliers for efficiency purposes.

Thorough working knowledge and experience in ERP systems, MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
At least 3 years leading a shipping department or processes
Bilingual in Spanish is required
Work in both an office and warehouse environments, indoors and outdoors, and in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
Able to work in a flexible scheduled in particular during peak season.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
