Sunshine Villa Assisted Living & Memory Care has on-call and part-
time positions available for resident assistants. Eventual full-time
employment may be available after a probationary period.
Sunshine Villa provides a complete range of services that allow
seniors who require assistance with the activities of daily living
to remain as independent as possible. Sunshine Villa is a member of
the BPM Senior Living communities, pioneers in assisted living.
Full-time employees receive 10 days paid vacation and 3 days
PTO, and are eligible to participate in our health/vision/dental
insurance and 401(k) plans.
All employees must pass an FBI/DOJ background check, pre-employment
physical, drug screen, and TB test.

JOB TITLE: Resident Assistant
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Health Services
REPORTS TO: Care Coordinator
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
* Responsible for total care of each resident in your Resident Group
for all activities of daily living (ADL’s) including but not
limited to:
* Showering
* Toileting assistance and continence care
* Daily grooming such as combing hair, brushing teeth,
washing face
* Dressing assistance which may include picking out clothes,
ensuring cleanliness
* General monitoring for behavior and safety
* Transferring residents
* Escorting resident to meals and activities
* Assisting with ambulation programs
* Assessing residents for needs (care level increase, nursing
assistance)
* Feeding assistance
* Care of resident pets
* Repositioning of residents who may be bed bound
* Monitoring of skin condition
* Orient each new resident in your Resident Group to their new
living environment, to you as their assistant, other team
members and residents
* Participate in all resident orientation practices, explain
amenities, routines and expectations of the community
* Implement all components of personal care described in the
Resident Handbook, Care Plan and ADL’s for each resident in
your Resident Group
* Monitor each resident’s ability to perform basic ADL’s, life
management and social skills and communicate observations and
potential difficulties to appropriate team members
* Work individually with each resident to expand the number of
ADL’s the resident performs themselves
* Interact with each resident in your Resident Group positively
and frequently
* Familiarize yourself with layout of property, emergency
procedures and incident reporting procedures
* Respond to emergency situations, documenting all incidents,
fire alarms and resident emergency calls
* Conduct and document floor and exit checks on all floors four
(4) times nightly
* Check for property deficiencies, follow procedure for
executing work order request
* Handle all resident questions and concerns in a professional,
caring manner
* Participate in all training programs offered by employer
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS include the following:
* Brew coffee in the dining room, cover reception duties as needed
* Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS include the following:
* Must be 18 years of age
* Must be Fidelity Bondable
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
* CPR/First Aid Certified
* Negative Tuberculosis test
* Clear background check
COMPETENCIES AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
* Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of elderly and their needs
and the competency to meet those needs on a consistent basis
* Able to communicate ideas well
* Able to question and listen to residents and coworkers for the
purpose of gaining understanding
* Able to represent and promote activities and programs as a member
of our team
* Able to organize and manage both information and time effectively
* Sufficient literary skills to read care plans and other
procedures and to complete required reports
PHYSICAL/MOTION REQUIREMENTS:

* Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
* Frequent twisting, bending, extending and reaching for periods up
to eight (8) hours
