Starting Salary Range: $3417-$4783 /monthly. Salary commensurate
with qualifications and experience.

The International Education Office (IEO) at UCSC houses two
functions, International Scholar & Student Services (ISSS) and
Programs Abroad.
Reporting to the Director of ISSS, the International Scholar &
Student Advisors are part of a team that provides immigration
advising services to UCSC foreign students, scholars and their
dependents (approximately 900 in 2009). The individuals in this
position serve as Designated School Officials for the F-1 student
program and Alternate Responsible Officers for the J-1 exchange
visitor program, and are responsible for ensuring that the
university meets all reporting requirements and event registration
deadlines for the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System
(SEVIS.)
Qualifications include:
Minimum of one year full-time experience in a university setting as
an international student or scholar advisor and service as a
Designated School Official and/or Alternate Responsible Officer.
Demonstrated proficiency using SEVIS software and other applications
including databases, word processing, online calendars, and internet
applications including email.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate complex federal
regulations and procedures pertaining to the F-1, F-2, J-1 J-2
classifications.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to investigate,
assemble, analyze, interpret, and apply information from a wide
variety of sources.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to
independently set priorities, coordinate and complete a number of
competing assignments within established deadlines.
