The City of Santa Cruz is hiring a Water Treatment Operator-in-Training/II/III/IV in the Water Production Division of the Water Department. Our system includes the Graham Hill Water Treatment Plant, which can process up to 16 million gallons of water per day and is the only conventional water treatment plant on the Monterey Bay. The Water Production Section operates and maintains water storage, diversion, collection, pumping, and treatment facilities from all sources throughout the system. Under general supervision, the Water Treatment Operator classifications perform a variety of skilled tasks in the operation, inspection, and maintenance of the City's water treatment plants and related facilities. This position requires high school degree or GED, one year of experience with hand and power tools, knowledge of safety procedures for physical labor and handling hazardous materials, and a valid California Class C driver`s license.  The Water Treatment Operator II, III, and IV positions require Water Treatment Operator certifications.
