The City of Santa Cruz currently has a vacancy for the position of Assistant Engineer I/II in the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The Engineering Division provides engineering design services and construction supervision, city surveying, maintenance of maps and records, special assessment district administration, and all other basic engineering inspections and services. The list established from this recruitment may be used for Assistant Engineer I/II vacancies in other departments in the City for up to one year, including the Engineering Division and Traffic Engineering Division in the Water Department. Under general supervision, the Assistant Engineer I/II plans and coordinates various public works or water facilities projects; leads technical staff in project work; and performs related work as required.  Candidates may qualify with a Bachelor`s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, OR a high school diploma, one year of applicable engineering related experience, and two years of college-level engineering coursework.  A valid driver`s license is also required.
